Dr. Albert Canas
Dr. Albert Canas is a South Florida native, born at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Miami Beach and fluent in both English and Spanish. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami School of Medicine and went on to complete his Internship and Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
In 1994, on completion of his medical training, Dr. Canas opened his private practice on Miami Beach, and has practiced at his current Michigan Avenue location since 1998. He is a recognized specialist in the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Dr. Canas presently cares for hundreds of HIV-positive individuals, some since he started practicing medicine in 1994.
In 2002, sensing a growing need in increasingly sophisticated South Beach, Dr. Canas expanded his practice to include cosmetic skin care. As more and more minimally invasive, “lunch-time” procedures have become available and FDA-approved, Dr. Canas has treated hundreds of patients with BOTOX Cosmetic, Facial Fillers, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Microdermabrasion.
In addition to his private practice, speaking engagements, and consulting work, Dr. Canas also conducts FDA-approved research at his office in the areas of both Internal Medicine and Cosmetic Skin Care. In 2006, Dermik, developers of Sculptra, selected Albert Canas MD PA as the exclusive research site in Miami-Dade County for a special study connected with the recent FDA-approval of Sculptra, a facial filler for the treatment of lipoatrophy.
Dr. Canas is a Member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Dr. Marlene Anne Jarin
Dr. Marlene Anne Jarin was born and raised in the Philippines. She pursued her medical career at the Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in Manila and graduated with honors. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Biology, Cum Laude. She continued her studies and completed her Doctorate of Medicine, Magna Cum Laude in 2004.
After successfully completing the certification for foreign medical graduates, she continued her 3 year residency training for Family Medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where she served as Chief Resident during the past year.
She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, member of American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Associationand a credentialed member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
